The design in detail
Five detailed gray squirrels grip long, pastel-colored ribbons that extend upward to a tight cluster of pink and yellow roses. Each animal is depicted in a dynamic pose, suggesting movement and excitement as they hold onto the festive streamers. The illustration style mimics classic natural history prints, giving the whimsical subject matter an air of old-world elegance. This artwork belongs to the tradition of May Day celebrations but swaps the wooden pole for a floral centerpiece. The result is a cohesive image where wild woodland creatures participate in a refined, human-like ritual.
