Housewarming Door Card: A Black Door for a New Start

Housewarming Door Card shows HAPPY NEW HOME beneath a painted black front door, and those three quiet words say everything a new homeowner hopes to hear on their first evening. The card needs no punchline, because the picture carries a warm welcome that anyone who has just turned a key in an unfamiliar lock will recognize. It is made for the people who are finally settling in.

Ships with a kraft envelope; envelope color in photo may vary.

Watercolor door, olive trees, and gold details

The centerpiece is a tall black front door set inside a pale arched doorway. Above it, a fan-shaped window glows a soft yellow, and thin white lines divide the glass into a sunburst pattern. The door has four raised panels outlined in gold, along with a brass knocker, a lever handle and a small letterbox. Two olive trees in terracotta pots stand on either side, their silvery green leaves painted in loose, watery strokes. The lettering is a simple, widely spaced black sans-serif, so the words read clearly against the white background. Together the parts make a picture of a home that feels both classic and freshly opened.

Friends and family moving into a first home

The first thing most people notice is the glowing fanlight over the black door, a detail that reads as a warm light waiting inside. A friend who has just signed for a first apartment or a couple moving into a house they have saved for will see their own front door in it. Use this card when you visit the new place, when a box of belongings arrives, or when the mail starts coming to a new address. It fits the everyday moment of standing on a doorstep and finally going in.

As a gift and every day

Send this card before the move, bring it to a housewarming party, or tuck it into a gift basket with a plant or a candle. It also works well as a card you keep on the mantel as a reminder of the day you moved in. Choose the Natural style and add a handwritten note, since the door already speaks the welcome for you.
