Behind the design
Six gold medallions hang from teal straps against a background that gradients from lime green to deep blue. Each medal features a detailed black line drawing of a skyline representing one of the premier races: Boston, Tokyo, London, New York City, Berlin, and Chicago. The words "World Majors" sit centrally between the coins in a bold serif font. This illustration belongs to the niche of ultra-endurance running and specifically tracks the World Marathon Majors Grand Slam. The combination of the metallic gold finish and the specific city names creates a cohesive tribute to global racing excellence.
Who gets the joke
Runners who have completed the six-star challenge notice the specific city names first. A Gold Marathon Medals Blue Card is often given when someone announces they have finally connected all the dots across the globe. It fits the moment after a final finisher ceremony or during a conversation about training logistics. You can send this to celebrate a new jacket qualification or simply to show you respect the difficulty of the pursuit.
- What does the phrase "World Majors" refer to on this card?
- The phrase refers to the six major marathons depicted as gold medals on the front. Each coin features a skyline representing Boston, Tokyo, London, New York City, Berlin, and Chicago. Completing all six is known as the World Marathon Majors Grand Slam, which is why this design honors such a specific and difficult athletic achievement.
- Who is the intended recipient for this specific marathon illustration?
- This card targets runners who have completed or are chasing the six-star achievement. It suits someone who views these specific races as the pinnacle of their sport rather than just any long-distance event. If your friend collects medals from these exact global cities, they will immediately recognize the reference and appreciate the tailored tribute.
- What makes this greeting card different from standard running congratulations messages?
- Unlike generic cards that just say "good job," this design specifically illustrates the six distinct World Major events. It acknowledges the unique difficulty of connecting those specific dots across the globe. This level of detail shows you understand the actual scope of their training and the prestige associated with each individual race.
