Expecting Dad Card shows a pint, a glass of wine, a pet food bowl and a baby bottle in a single row, with the printed words “and then there were four.” Those words tell the story at a glance, and anyone who has watched their routines shift will smile at the math. It is the kind of card that says congratulations and makes the new dad laugh at the same time, made for the friend who is about to trade late nights out for late-night feedings.
Ships with a kraft envelope; envelope color in photo may vary.
A closer look at the print
The four objects sit side by side on a pale blue band, each one drawn in a soft, friendly style. The beer glass has a foamy top, the wine glass holds deep red, and the dog bowl is filled with kibble. The baby bottle stands at the end with a milky white body and a teal cap. Above and below the band, rows of blue pacifiers repeat across stripes of two shades of blue, giving the whole card a nursery feel. The lettering is a dark, hand-lettered style that reads clearly from across a room. Together the pieces show a life that is changing one item at a time.
Who will love it
The card is easy to read: first the drinks, then the pet bowl, then the bottle. Dads-to-be who enjoy a bit of teasing will notice the joke right away. You might choose it for a friend who has been talking about becoming a father for months, or for a coworker who has been counting down to the due date. The expecting dad card works just as well for a brother, a neighbor or a stepdad who is joining the family. It is also a good pick for anyone who has already given up a favorite drink for a new little person.
Occasions and picks
This card fits a baby shower, a pregnancy announcement, or a gift for a dad during the weeks before birth. It also works as a Father's Day card when a new baby is on the way. Slip it into a gift bag with a pack of diapers or a small bottle of something he can still enjoy. It comes in the Greeting Card style, available in Natural, so it is ready to hand over at the party or mail to a friend.
- What does the joke in this card mean?
- The joke is that the beer and wine represent the grown-up life a couple used to have, while the dog bowl and baby bottle show the family that is about to grow. Each object takes its turn in the line, ending with the bottle. The printed words “and then there were four” complete the count, so a dad can read the whole story in a glance.
- Who gets the most out of this design?
- Dads-to-be with a playful sense of humor enjoy it most, especially those who already have a pet and know how much life changes with a baby. Friends and coworkers who tease each other will also get the reference quickly. It works well for a brother, stepdad or neighbor who is about to welcome a new child into the family.
- How can you make this card feel complete?
- Pair it with a short handwritten note about what you are looking forward to meeting. Add a small baby item such as a pacifier or a set of bottle brushes if you want to extend the nursery theme. Presenting it at a baby shower or along with a Father's Day gift creates a warm moment for the dad.
