Artwork and lettering

The central figure is a solid black silhouette of a young girl in a short pleated skirt, her ponytail flicking up behind her. One arm stretches toward the top of the card while the other reaches out to the side, each hand holding a pom-pom bursting with red, blue and yellow strands. Her standing leg is planted firmly while the other is tucked up, which gives the whole figure the feeling of a jump.

Around her, watercolor ribbons unfurl in loose, looping shapes, shifting through green, pink, gold and deep blue. They trail off the edges of the page and fade into a pale wash, with tiny dots of color floating through the open space. A soft, faded shadow sits beneath her feet, anchoring the dancer to the ground. There is no lettering on the card, so the artwork carries the whole mood on its own.

Made for this crowd

The people who notice this card first are usually the ones who were once on a squad themselves. They spot the pom-poms and the pleated skirt and remember the chants, the practices, and the early mornings. Parents of young cheerleaders often pick it for their own kids because it looks like something a proud family would frame.

It also suits a coach or team captain who keeps the group together through the season. A birthday card that nods to their sport tells them you know what the team means to them. Friends who still cheer at every game will like the energy of the leap and the bright ribbons.

Moments it suits

A birthday is the obvious occasion, especially for a young athlete who is counting down to a big day. The card fits well into a goodie bag, a bedside table, or a stack of gifts waiting to be opened. It is also a thoughtful pick for a teammate turning another year older during the season.

You might also send it to mark a team milestone, such as a championship win or a first year on varsity. Pair it with a small pom-pom keepsake or a favorite snack for a sweet, easy celebration.
